Issue 631: English text corrections

Some corrections as a result of reviewing the English test. Review 
not complete - there may be more to follow.

Attached patch is against release-1.1 branch.

The first patch has been applied in revision 4411086. I made the one 
instance of "monotone" you changed to uppercase lowercase 
again - this is wanted by upstream.

Actually, the release is planned in 7 days (20 march).
So I think, we need to freeze the source language at less 2 days 
before.

The sources are frozen since today. If you find more problems, 
please open a new ticket; we'll target these things for 1.2 then.
